ZAMBIA Air Force (ZAF) Commander David Muma has directed formation commanders countrywide to ensure that officers who engage in gender-based violence (GBV) are detained in the guardroom for 28.
Lieutenant-General Muma said ZAF has taken a strong stance against GBV to maintain discipline in the air force and deter would-be perpetrators of the vice.
He said discipline among the officers has not been impressive over the past few years as evidenced by the number of GBV cases recorded.
“I, therefore, urge all formation commanders to take this directive seriously and not to relent in the implementation of the 28-day guardroom detention. Cases of GBV among ZAF personnel are a matter of great concern to the command,” Lt. Gen Muma said.
He was speaking when he opened the nineth seminar for the ZAF administration department on Tuesday.
