Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has paid grants to first division sides Nchanga Rangers and Konkola Blades ahead of the 2019/2020 season.
KCM provisional liquidator Milingo Lungu said in an interview on Saturday that the mining firm has paid the two clubs K175,000 apiece.
Lungu said the company is committed to continue bankrolling the two teams and ensure they remain competitive going forward.
“There is a backlog of the grant. We are engaged in talks on how to clear that backlog. But in terms of going forward we will be giving them support. I am not looking for anything less than promotion and we hope our support will push them until they eventually get into the premier league,” he said.
Blade were relegated to Division One in 2017 and a year later Rangers followed suit.
